Scope and Contents
Denver Botanic Gardens Photographs collection contains various photographic formats including black and white prints, color prints, 35 mm slides, slide negatives, glass slides, and other formats. The majority of the collection is made up of prints and slides. The photographs range in time period from before the creation of Denver Botanic Gardens to the present day. Photograph subjects include people (significant to the history of the Gardens as well as every day visitors), plants, buildings, events, and other things related to the history and the functions of the Gardens. Photographs were taken by a number of different photographers and are indicated when known.
Some of the materials in this collection had been previously separated out from other collections. Returning them to their original order at this point would not be possible so they will remain in this collection. Other photographs that had not been separated previously remain with the collections they were originally with. Collections that are only photographs will be added to this collection with indication of donor information.

Denver Botanic Gardens Photograph Collection contains photographs, historical and contemporary of Denver Botanic Gardens. This includes plants, people, events, buildings, and other images related to Denver Botanic Gardens and the history of the institution.
Materials in this collection are arranged by source of the material. Series 01 contains historic photographs that have been collected throughout the years by various staff and people involved with Denver Botanic Gardens. Series 02 contains a large number of photographs that had been taken and collected by the Marketing Department then transferred to the Helen Fowler Library. Series 03 contains photographs taken by guests and volunteers and regular guests of the Gardens and later donated to the Helen Fowler Library. Series 04 contains various photographs of nature and plants from identified or unidentified creators; materials in this series relate to the Gardens by providing photographs of plants that researchers may use, furthering the Gardens' mission of connecting people with plants.
